Just wanted to take a moment to bask in the oily hotness (hot mess?) of James Franco as Saul the Dealer. He is 100% the reason to tune into this movie because he inhabits the role so fully. It’s awesome.

X-Files Movie Review

26 July, 2008

So here’s a super-primative attempt at creating a Gif. It’s mostly bad and in a not in a so-bad-it’s-good kind of way. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow when I’m not stinging from a Brewers loss.

D'Oh!

Chris Carter, what were you thinking? For realsies!

Repurposing…

24 July, 2008

I’ve tried a bunch of times to start blogs and then regularly maintain them. To no avail. So instead I plan on short entries added on a semi-regular basis. Or a semi-whenever I remember basis. We’ll see.

So I’ve decided to give this blogging business another go. Tomorrow will begin a series of features on movies that always seem to be on some cable channel that I always find myself watching.

Our first film is 1993’s Striking Distance.

I love this show because of this moment.

Torrent Trash

I was scanning through BT Junkie to see what the pirates had to offer of late. With the risks associated with downloading media content of any stripe, would you really want to be caught and prosecuted for downloading any of the following titles?

* Meet the Spartans: Come on, people, this shit will be at the budget in a week and on DVD in three. As my 4th grade teacher always said, “Patience a virtue!”

* Alvin and the Chipmunks: See above. And please, school your children on decent programming, like Jem, Animaniacs, or even Tiny Toons. Consider this a public service message.

* Untraceable: If I wanted a bad-Lifetime-esque thriller with an on-the-cusp of A-List actress, I’d watch Lifetime and not have to pretend that she did this because she needed the work.

* According to Jim: Courtney Thorne-Smith, get thee back to Melrose, stat! At least that show had camp on its side.

* Rush Hour 3: As the guys over at Reverse Shot, why the long wait? It’s not like Chris Tucker’s schedule was full.

*The Game Plan: At least The Rundown had Seann William Scott to atone for The Rock’s many sins.

*The Invasion: Not even the promise of Daniel Craig could drag me to this.

*Death Sentence: Did you see Kevin Bacon’s hair? Unexcusable. Also, I think Jodie Foster already made this movie this year.

*The Heartbreak Kid: Dear Ben Stiller, The goodwill incurred by making Zoolanderhas nearly run out. Please stop making this kind of schlock-y romantic comedy. ASAP. Kisses, Agnes

*American Idol: Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk of crushed dreams for free?

I think not. On the plus side, it was nice to see Burn Notice all over. Jeffrey Donovan’s USANetwork show about a burned (basically fired/exiled) CIA agent stuck in Miami with his mother (Sharon Gless, or Lacey of Cagney and Lacey), an ex-girlfriend/IRA demolitions expert (Gabrielle Anwar), and a lovable sidekick (Bruce Campbell). Together they solve mysteries while also trying to figure out why he was burned. It’s quite awesome and sadly a summer-only show.
